Nieva de Cameros

9 · Hiking through El Serradero

The summit separating the New Cameros from the Najerilla Valley is called “Serradero”. Tradition relates this name with Serra de Bero, Sierra de los Berones or Sierra de Oro, remembering the peaks of Lomos de Orios in Villoslada, gilded by the snow at sunset. The whole length of the summit is crossed by a cattle track that gathered the cattle of the area, before heading to Extremadura (Spain).
Nieva is the ideal place for hiking and mountain biking. The ascent to the beech groves and forests of the Serradero through the forest track is a very interesting proposal. It can be accessed through the signposted GR 93, which leads us to Anguiano and can also take us to the shores of the Ortigosa Reservoir.
