Lumbreras de Cameros

5 · The Court of the Sierra

Along a line that reminds us of the old road, we find the main street. It highlights several large buildings with shields adorning their facades, which justify why Lumbreras was called “The Court of the Sierra”. The owners of the “Seven deep red Coats” lived there, carried by the representatives of seven illustrious families of the place.
The wealth of these families was based on the possession of the herds of transhumant Merino sheep. A walk through its streets transports us to the splendour of this town, where we would greet the Herreros de Tejada, the García Baquedano, Garcia de Olalla or the Gómez de Soba, owners of the mansions.
