The trasnochos

In the long winters, the inhabitants of these small Camerano villages used to meet in the kitchens or even in the yards, warmed up by animal heat, to make long winter evenings shorter.
These meeting places were social spaces where the oral tradition was maintained, craft works were performed and contacts were established between the neighbours, by candlelight first and later by the carbide lamp.
The trasnocho was also an educational space in which children and young people were introduced to social life and local history. The trasnocho changed place from one family to another and there could be several meetings of this kind throughout the winter in each town.
