The only Natural Park in Rioja was created in 1995 to guard a space between the districts of Lumbreras and Villoslada, which was already a Public Utility Mountain, a National Hunting Reserve and a Bird Special Protection Area.
It occupies an area of 236.4 square kilometres with large areas of forests, pastures and old cultivation areas. Its maximum altitude in Pico de Cebollera is 2,164 m.
Its Interpretation Centre was opened in 1999, in the area of the old cereal threshing floors in town. It offers information about the Park based on the concept of «Atlantic refuge in a Mediterranean world» and the visitor can enjoy an exhibition and an audio-visual about the region.
The park is crossed by different paths and inside, we will find some artistic samples of Land Art.
