The importance of education in these mountain regions is demonstrated by the age of many of the schools, some of them founded by individuals or maintained by Associations.
The school of Gallinero was founded in 1836 and we know its history thanks to the research of Carlos Muntión on Las Misiones Pedagógicas, (The Pedagoical Missions) which, between 1934 and 1936 toured the Camerano villages teaching lessons, showing films and taking photographs, such as the one that tells us the date of the Centenary of the School in 1936.
Today, the old school is the meeting place of the few neighbours of the town and it hosts the neighbourhood assemblies.
