Pradillo

8 · The domestic ovens

These pot-bellied constructions that almost all the families owned, allowed baking the bread weekly for all the family and the relatives. Today, there are few in use in the Sierra. With the cereals that were produced locally and were grounded in the nearby mill, flour was made to bake bread loaves, which lasted weekly. The oven also received the festive lamb at Christmas and Easter, when the Camerano people could give away one of its sacred animals to celebrate those dates.
In Pradillo, three examples of hanging ovens and a vertical one are preserved.
