Villanueva de Cameros

7 · The uninhabited

In all the Camerano villages, they talk about ancient settlements, now disappeared. Always an accidental event causes depopulation: a fire, a poisoning or some other tragedy make the town disappear and only memories, ruins, legends and, in some cases, a chapel that served as a parish before it disappeared, remain.
Villanueva, La Marta, El Hoyo and Ollano are remembered, depopulated villages that are kept alive in the place, and in which history and legend are mixed.
A walk to the site of the ancient villages of El Hoyo and Ollano, visiting their chapels, will allow us to know the term and its forestry features.
