5 · The impressive viaduct

Due to the orography of the place, the two neighbourhoods of Ortigosa were separated, physically and socially, and divided by a tumultuous river until its channelling at the end of the XIX century. For this reason, the Association Unión Ortigosana, the Town Hall and a wealthy family descendant from the town and living in Argentina, decided to build a modern concrete bridge, one of the largest in Spain in those years. It was opened in 1924.
