Lumbreras de Cameros

11 · The Transhumance Interpretation Centre

This informative space focuses on the most important task carried out by the Cameranos until the beginning of the XIXth century: The sheep and its wool. All the region of the 13 Villas was under transhumance with their cattle to the south to spend the winter and, at the beginning of the summer, the flocks returned home. The Estate of La Pineda, owned by the community, used to serve as the point of arrival and departure for that route.
Different objects of the daily life of the shepherds are exhibited here, from their portable huts to all their utensils in leather, wood, horn or cork. The set is accompanied by models and an audio-visual on the subject.
