Nieva de Cameros

10 · Montemediano

This small spot located on the González Lacasa Reservoir is the village of Nieva. It has beautiful samples of traditional Camerano architecture and a parish devoted to Nª Sra. de la Visitación. Inside, an image of the Virgin and Child in alabaster with a dedication dated 1798, although it is a XVI century work.
In the surroundings, in the Cerro de Castejoncillo, archaeological remains from the Bronze Age and with occupation until the Roman era were traced. Nearby is the Chapel of Saint Julian, where tradition says there was a village, as evidenced by the site that is near the Roman Road of Iregua, which runs through the region.
